FAQs

Does air suspension leak?

No, if an install is performed correctly, you will only see the air pressure drop when the air is hot from driving, and as the temperature in the tank cools. This is a variability range typically around 5psi. The use of the correct thread sealants goes a long way to having no leaks. We use Loctite 569 which is a hydraulic sealant now for 22 years and not once had an air fitting leak. The set time is 2 hours, and full cure time is 24 hours. The use of plumber’s white thread tape is discouraged, as its for water not air. We have also found it can get into the air system and get stuck in valves causing them to leak up and or down. The other cause of leaks is airline and or hard line. The outer airline surface is what seals the airline into fittings, so any scratch on this will cause the airline to leak. Please use a V Blade cutter for the airline, as this doesn’t crush the air line and cuts it square without leaving any burrs.

Another cause is not having a particle trap between the tank and the valves. Regardless of whether you use a steel, aluminum, or coated tank you will get a build up inside the tank as the filters for your compressors don’t stop everything. Regular draining the tank of moisture once a week will reduce this happening but not completely.
